This is a topic that is close to my heart, and I know we speak about it a lot at ThreeSixteen. But Love is central to everything for the believer. Time and again Jesus through the sermon on the mount and other teachings would up the ante on how we are to live our lives, because how we live does matter. Jesus would state that you have heard it said this and then he would go on to challenge the teaching and challenge us to raise our standards. But throughout all of his teaching the word that covers it the best is Love. Jesus calls us to a life of love, and not only to those we like but also those we don’t like and even our enemies. He told us that the defining feature that would mark us as His disciples would be our Love.
So how do we live a life of love, well firstly we need to love God with everything. We need to be all in with the Lord, holding nothing back. Secondly we need to see the people around us as God sees them. When Jesus saw the crowds he was moved by compassion for they were sheep without a shepherd, they were lost. In 1 John 3:16 it tells us “This is how we know what love is, Jesus Christ laid down His life for us and we ought to do the same for our brothers”
Jesus has shown us what true sacrificial love is, by laying down His life for us, our call as believers, as disciples is love in the same way, sacrificially. Not to condemn this world but to love this world enough to be Light & Salt.
My prayer for you is that God may open your eyes to world around you, and that you might demonstrate the same unconditional love Jesus has shown to us. Engage with this world and show them the Love of Jesus.
